Renzenbrink & Partner advises on the strategic acquisition of Maxer Endoscopy by Erbe Elektromedizin
9. April 2021As part of a strategic partnership, the owner-managed family business Erbe Elektromedizin has acquired a majority stake in Maxer Endoscopy GmbH. The company is based in the German MedTech cluster of Tuttlingen and is managed by the Joshi family. Maxer manufactures a wide range of highly innovative endoscopic systems and instruments. The innovation focus is on the development of high-end equipment for visualization.
In 2020, Maxer and its partners, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and the Technical University of Munich, won first prize in the German Medical Award in the “Innovation Product” category for the Atlas project. This provides surgeons with a kind of “GPS system” that enables them to perform advanced laparoscopic operations with increased surgical precision.
The Erbe Group develops, produces and sells surgical systems worldwide for professional use in a wide range of medical fields. Erbe employs over 1,000 people worldwide, including more than 650 at its sites in Tübingen and Rangendingen.
Renzenbrink & Partner advised the Joshi family as managing partners of Maxer Endoscopy GmbH comprehensively on all (tax) legal aspects of the sale and on the future structure of the shareholder relationship.
