Renzenbrink & Partner advises on the strategic takeover of Maxer Endoscopy by Erbe Elektromedizin

As part of a strategic partnership, Erbe Elektromedizin has acquired a majority stake in Maxer Endoscopy GmbH. Located in the German MedTech cluster of Tuttlingen, Maxer is led by the Joshi family. Maxer manufactures a wide range of highly innovative endoscopic systems and instruments. The prime innovation focus is on the development of high-end visualization.

In 2020, Maxer and its partners, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and Technical University of Munich, won the first prize of the German Medical Award in the category “Innovation Product” for its Atlas project. Thereby surgeons are provided with a “GPS system” that enables the performance of advanced laparoscopic surgeries with increased surgical precision.

Erbe group develops, manufactures and distributes surgical instruments and devices worldwide for professional use in a diverse range of medical disciplines. Erbe employs more than 1,000 employees worldwide, more than 650 of which at its Tübingen and Rangendingen sites.

Renzenbrink & Partner has comprehensively advised the Joshi family as managing shareholders of Maxer Endoscopy GmbH on all legal and tax matters of the sale and the future shareholders’ relationships.
